In this part of our workshop remodel series, we made custom garage shop doors out of plywood that look like real wood carriage doors but are easier and cheaper to make. For us, these doors are a temporary solution until we have the time and resources to build a real set of solid wood doors; so we don’t need them to last a lifetime, just a few years without falling apart.
I’ve had my eye on a wooden Christmas Tree Collar for years now but I couldn’t bring myself to spend over $100 on one. This year I decided to try and make it myself using readily available materials from our local Home Depot. In this video I’ll break down all the steps I took to make it so you can follow along and learn from my mistakes. I wanted to share this simple, beginner woodworking project because it’s perfect for the hobbyist woodworker who is just getting started and doesn’t necessarily have a workshop full of tools.
I built these office cabinet built-ins for our small home office that accommodates an adjustable standing desk and includes a built-in LED overhead light. It was an interesting woodworking challenge because of the tight space and the need to allow room for the desk to raise.
