I’ve had my eye on a wooden Christmas Tree Collar for years now but I couldn’t bring myself to spend over $100 on one. This year I decided to try and make it myself using readily available materials from our local Home Depot. In this video I’ll break down all the steps I took to make it so you can follow along and learn from my mistakes. I wanted to share this simple, beginner woodworking project because it’s perfect for the hobbyist woodworker who is just getting started and doesn’t necessarily have a workshop full of tools.
It’s finally here…the moment we’ve been waiting nearly four years to get to. We are finally tackling the garage workshop. It’s been difficult building custom cabinetry and furniture for the house in our makeshift shop, and with a bathroom and bedroom reno looming in the horizon, we need a place to work that is clean, organized and efficient. Unfortunately, when we started demo-ing the inside we found a huge amount of termite damage and mold so we ended up having to tear most of it down and start over. This video covers how we rebuilt the structure from the ground up and includes siding, roofing, painting, exterior trim and of course framing.
I built these office cabinet built-ins for our small home office that accommodates an adjustable standing desk and includes a built-in LED overhead light. It was an interesting woodworking challenge because of the tight space and the need to allow room for the desk to raise.
